Herfurth Logistics SA/NV is pleased to announce its acquisition on 1st January 2016 of 100% of the shares in Brucargo Air Freight SA/NV, a Belgian company based in Brucargo, a cargo area within Brussels Airport in Belgium.

Brucargo Air Freight, a family-run company, is a specialist in international airfreight services with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Brucargo Air Freight has about 13 staff members, it is a licensed IATA agent and it offers a wide range of services, such as:

  • airfreight
  • a worldwide airfreight network
  • an international baggage delivery service door to door
  • special expertise for Africa, with close ties with offices in Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and elsewhere
  • an express courier service to Africa

Herfurth Logistics, part of the family-owned Herfurth group based in Antwerp for more than 100 years, is an international freight forwarding and logistics company with European roots. It has been active on the market for more than 100 years. Herfurth Logistics has offices in seven strategic locations in Europe and can count on the support of an extended worldwide network.

Besides its core activities, the company is driven by high-quality standards, namely ISO 9001:2008 and AEO Customs & Security. Herfurth Logistics is constantly striving to enlarge its pallet of services by creating ‘Intelligent Cargo Care’, a value-added logistics programme that goes further than just freight forwarding.

Commenting on the acquisition, Olivier d’Hoop, CEO of Herfurth Logistics, said, ‘As an integrator, we have put in place a specific set-up based around our centres of excellence for transport and logistics. This acquisition should help us extend our operating range across Central and East Africa, and create new concepts and therefore new commercial opportunities’.

Pierre Daelemans, Herfurth Logistics Air Freight manager, added, ‘We are convinced that Herfurth Logistics and Brucargo Air Freight will complement each other perfectly and will make an excellent cultural fit’.

Jacques Schellekens, COO of Herfurth Logistics, echoed this by saying, “Brucargo Air Freight operates in sectors where personalised service and an in-depth, specific geographical knowledge are key factors. These two elements have always been at the heart of Herfurth Logistics’ development strategy’.

Pierre Daelemans will oversee Brucargo Air Freight’s local management from 1st January 2016 and, other than the previous managing owners, the existing teams will remain in place in their entirety.
